The iGo was the same in concept as this Ultra Tech in that it was a super mini screwdriver, with small driver bits (albeit the iGo bit are not as small as the Ultra Tech). The iGo is powered by two AAA batteries. Back then the iGo was the only miniature battery powered screwdriver on the market (at least that I could find). There were plenty of large AA battery powered drivers (that use four batteries), for example Black & Decker's drivers. But those are powerful screwdrivers meant for heavy duty jobs such as inserting wood screws into hardwood. In 2004, when I was first researching and looking for a battery powered mini screwdriver, I wanted something for delicate, small jobs such as working on computers or small electronic devices. What would have taken me at least an hour and a half to do took about 30 minutes. I like that its low torque for when i'm working on sensitive stuff like hard drives. I also have carpal tunnel, so my wrist is happy now. This product is handy for those wanting a break for the hands, but there is definitely room for improvement. Basic functionality is solid: does what it says on the tin. Nothing fancy here; you can't set the torque or change the speed, which is thankfully slow enough to control but fast enough to save some time. You'll be using your thumb a lot to push the lever up and and down for forward and reverse. The most significant gripe I have is that instead of using a 4mm hex drive for which 3rd party bits are readily available, this tool uses what appears to be a 1/8 inch hex drive, making it almost certainly incompatible with one's existing collection of interchangeable precision bits.
